Clive has more than 20 years experience in the electronics industry. He started his career in the design of navigation systems for aerospace applications. This was followed by 7 years In the semiconductor industry. Working as a designer of custom ICs, he was part of a freelance consultancy which carried out work in a wide range of application areas on behalf of an international client list. He became a Director of that company in 1988.

Since 1991, Clive has been providing professional services to the Electronics Industry, mainly in Technology Transfer and Microelectronics. Since 1994 he has been an advisor to the DTI, involved in the Microelectronics in Business and Electronics Design programmes. His role is supplying technology and business advice to companies considering the use of new technologies. He has acted as an Expert Assessor for the EC in their FUSE programme, evaluating numerous projects and business plans of SMEs. He has also sat on an advisory panel to this EC programme and now has responsibility for FUSE in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Clive is a founding member of the Semiconductor Businesses Association. He sits on the Management committee for Bolton Institute's distance learning MSc (Advanced Microelectronics for Industrialists) and is a course author and tutor. He also acts as Industrial Advisor to the University of Northumberland at Newcastle. Clive is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the IEE.
